Pat's PEPY Journal
Friday, May 19th - 4:30 PM
I'm sitting in the Natick Public library in disbelief that I fly to Austin, TX tomorrow morning to meet my friend, and ride organizer, Maryann. It feels like only a week ago that I decided to take part in the ride. Time has gone by too fast and I haven't be able to prepare as much as I hoped.
Unfortunately, the manager at Domino's Pizza never returned my calls so I was unable to organize any big fundraising event with Dean College. I also got too busy to contact other local businesses for contributions so have relied primarily on family, friends and people who've seen my flyers and newspaper articles for donations. I've raised almost $1,800 now, and I'm proud of that, but I know I have the potential to do so much better.
Today I took what little "spare time" I had to update this website because I won't be able to work on it again until after the ride. I added links to a couple of newspaper articles (one featuring myself) and a testimonial from one of my friends currently living in New Orleans. I also volunteered at Bikes not Bombs yesterday and uploaded a few pictures from there as well.
Well, time is running short and I've still got a few preparations to take care of before I fly out tomorrow. Thank you, again to everyone who has believed in me and donated thus far. I appreciate it and I can't wait to meet the people who will directly benefit from your donations on my trip. I promise to update this website with many pictures and stories when I get back from Louisiana in early June.
Until then... Pat
