Day 1 (Vinton to Holly Beach):

Kickoff in Vinton, LA

Bike along the Creole Nature Trail, Hwy 27
-
Travel through the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge, a great place to view avian wildlife
-
Arrive in Holly Beach, a once popular tourist spot which was devastated by Hurricane Rita and has only just begun to rebuild
-
Camp at Holly Beach
Day 2 (Holly Beach to Rockfeller Wild. Refuge):
-
Continue along the Creole Nature Trail
-
Take the ferry across to Cameron
-
Bike through the Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge
-
Travel through the communities of Cheniers, Creole, Oak Grove and Grand Chenier, all of which sustained sever damage from Hurricane Rita
-
Camp at the Rockfeller Wildlife Refuge
Day 3 (Rockfeller Wildlife Refuge to Abbeville):
Day 4 (Abbeville to Morgan City):
-
Leave behind the costal devastation and head inland towards the Louisiana plantations
-
Follow the Acadiana Trail into the heart of "Cajun Country"
-
Finish the day in Franklin with transport to our campsite outside of Morgan City
Day 5 (Morgan City to Bayou Corne):
-
Pass by more plantations while winding north through Pierre Part
-
Arrive at Bayou Corne, a resort community just south of the Mississippi River
Day 6 (Bayou Corne to Lac des Allemands):
-
Ride along the Great River Road with views of the Mississippi for most of the day
-
View some antebellum mansions and a few more lush plantations
-
Visit a child care facility that was in operation before the hurricanes before the hurricanes but has since ceased
-
Stay the night in Lac des Allemands
Day 7 (Lac des Allemands to New Orleans):
-
Bike along the hard-hit south coast
-
Ferry across the Mississippi River River onto Canal St.
- Bike to our hotel - No more tents!!!
- Explore the French Quarter and other areas of the city affected by Hurricane Katrina
Day 8 (New Orleans):
-
Arrive at the YMCA of Greater New Orleans
